Among Other Entanglements
Now based in London, Jess MacNeil was raised in the Bega Valley and is known for her multidisciplinary practice that explores how we relate – physically, conceptually, and psychologically – to our environment. Working across media, but grounded in painting and moving image, she approaches painting as moving images and video and film as painterly. The exhibition includes work developed during a 2022 residency at Myer House in Mimosa Rocks National Park, hosted by the former Bega Valley Regional Gallery.
About the artist: Jess MacNeil works at the points of intersection between painting, installation, video and photography, often taking as her subject matter the dynamics of the human/environment relationship. Exhibited widely, MacNeil’s work is held in public collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as numerous Australian and international private collections.
