The Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize is named after Bega Valley artist and patron of the arts Shirley Hannan. Prior to being married her name was Shirley Herbert and her nick name during her school years was ‘Sherbie’, this name connotes fizz and fun, perfect for the young artist awards!
This year, four prizes are offered to young aspiring artists of the Bega Valley, specifically, making portraits.
