This will be the first opportunity for young people in the newly redeveloped South East Centre for Contemporary Art, Bega, in partnership with the Art Gallery of NSW.

This prize will be judged by celebrated artist Lucy Culliton and cash prizes will be awarded to each age category winners.

Key dates for the competition are:

  • Competition opens 22 September 2023
  • Entries must be received by 05 November 2023 EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 10
  • Finalists will be displayed 17 November – 10 December 2023 at SECCA
  • Finalists will be announced on 13 November 2023
  • Winners will be announced on 09 December 2023

Budding artists between the ages of 5 and 18 are invited to submit a portrait for the Young Archie Bega competition, as part of our family-focused activities for the Archibald Prize 2023 regional tour.

The portrait should be of a person who is special to you – someone who is known to you and plays a significant role in your life.
